New Daniel Blau exhibitions
- Published 29th March 2013
London's Daniel Blau Gallery has announced two new photography exhibitions:
79 AD, A Photographic Visit to 19th Century Italy (19 April-25 May 2013) will present photographs of the archaeological discovery of Pompeii in the nineteenth century. The show will go beyond Pompeii itself and observe the way people looked at Italy’s cultural heritage in the nineteenth century. Thought of as a compliment to the British Museum’s major exhibition on Pompeii and Herculaneum, it will be an opportunity for visitors to view and purchase rare early photographs.
BLITZ, WWII in London (31 May-29 June 2013) will take visitors back to war time by showing them the consequences of air bombings on the cityscape and everyday London life under the permanent threat of air raids. It will be an opportunity to learn about Twentieth century British and European History as much as about the history of journalistic technology (wirephoto technology, visible crop marks and editorial retouchings on the surface of the photographs, etc.). BLITZ will be a unique occasion for people to appropriate some parts of History by both seeing and purchasing these unique photographs.
