The Photo Festival Where Art and Technology Meet

British Journal of Photography is delighted to announce the second headline speaker for this November’s Vision photo festival, our annual event dedicated to creative professionals. This year we are flying in Jonas Bendiksen from Norway, one of the rising stars of the legendary Magnum Photos agency, founded by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, George Rodger and Chim Seymour. He will be joined by Tom Hunter, acclaimed for his painterly portraits of London’s counterculture, and the first photographer to be given an exhibition at the National Gallery.

The winner of numerous grants and awards over the past decade, from the Ian Parry Scholarship in 2002 to last year’s $50,000 Telenor International Culture Prize, Bendiksen is best known for Satellites. A seven-year study of the most isolated communities that once formed the fringe republics of the Soviet Empire, the award-winning book was published in 2006, and the 33-year-old followed up two years later with The Places We Live, published by Aperture, highlighting the growth of urban slums across the world.

Since its launch 12 years ago, Vision has become synonymous with supporting emerging photographers, providing an entertaining environment where young creatives can come and network together with their peers. For 2010, in addition to the two keynote talks, visitors will be able to show their work to leading industry experts in one-to-one portfolio reviews, plus attend seminars, demos and book signings, and try out the latest kit at our accompanying trade show.

The Vision photo festival is designed to inspire and inform visitors, giving them the tools and ideas to get their careers moving. Many of the industry’s leading manufacturers will be there to showcase their latest products and services, providing photographers with the opportunity to meet key innovators all under one roof.
