Steven Yee FRPS - Prospective Chapter Organiser for Singapore
- Published 29th November 2010

Earlier this year, during her visit to the Far East, RPS President
Rosemary Wilman HonFRPS met with Mr Tan Lip Seng FRPS, who has been
the contact point for Society members in Singapore for the last
quarter of a century. Lip Seng is a world-renowned photographer, and
Singapore was one of the first countries outside the UK to achieve a
significant RPS membership.
During their meeting, Lip Seng indicated that he felt it was time to
pass on his responsibilities for members in Singapore. Following
discussions at Council, it was agreed to try to form a Singapore
Chapter. All members in Singapore were contacted, and the response was
encouraging, with one proposal for Chapter Organiser, three volunteers
for committee posts, and three more non-specific volunteers, as well
as numerous voices of encouragement.
Steven Yee FRPS has been nominated as Chapter Organiser and approved by The Society's Council and will become "Prospective Chapter Organiser" from 1st January 2011 following the retirement of Tan Lip Seng FRPS on 31st December 2010.
Steven Yee FRPS has agreed to undertake the necessary work to produce a constitution and to register the Chapter with the authorities in Singapore. Once this work is done the first meeting of the Singapore Chapter can be held and the Chapter Organiser and Committee elected. Nominations will be required in advance of the meeting. It is expected that the meeting will be held before the end of March 2011.
