The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners for Stage 2 of our Celebrate a Summer of Sport competition have been announced!
Photographers were asked to capture the ‘Spirit of the Games’ and illustrate how the world was getting into the spirit of the world’s greatest sporting event. From community cultural events and celebrations of the Games, through to national and international organised events, including the action at the Games themselves.
We had some fantastic images submitted which really captured the excitement and the drama of the Olympics and the events that surrounded it. Photographers Bob Martin HonFRPS and Tom Hunter HonFRPS, alongside The Society’s President Roy Robertson HonFRPS and Exhibition Chairman John Simpson ARPS selected the finalists from over 2,400 images submitted! The winning images and competition finalists can be viewed on our competition website.
A selection of the finalists from both stages of Celebrate a Summer of Sport will become part of a printed exhibition, the details of which will soon be made available.
A big thank you goes to all of the entrants, our judges, and to Panasonic who sponsored the competition. We hope to run many more online photography competitions in the future that will explore the work which our members worldwide and the wider public are creating at present.
