A Brief Catch Up

  • Back in July, we held the opening evening of The 153rd International Print Exhibition. Charley Murrell walked away that evening with a brand new Olympus PEN, after winning Gold in the under 25 category. Five months later and we ask how she’s getting on with her posh new bit of kit.

“I was really excited when I found out I was going to receive the Olympus PEN camera, and I am still really excited about it now. I have nearly always shot with a large SLR and to be honest I sometimes don’t take it out because of its size. The Olympus PEN is a very small camera in comparison and it now travels with me everywhere.

Over the summer I worked on a fruit stall at events around the country, traveling from show to show one after the other. I have used the Olympus Pen to document my time and lifestyle while I worked and traveled. I have produced photographs, small stop motion pieces and short films, which I have edited into a short documentary multi-media piece and can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdJ41wqivgg

The quality of the photos is by far the most impressive feature of the camera. There are only two disadvantages I can think of. It’s really easy to change the settings on the screen without meaning to and there is no on camera flash, although I do now carry a small Vivtar flash to go on the top. As a whole though I think its amazing and I am grateful to have received one. “

Once again, we would like to say a big congratulations to all the winners of the 153rd IPE.
