Ken Scott ARPS

Ken Scott is a mountaineer and self-taught photographer from Sussex with a growing reputation in both outdoor and photographic circles. He has walked and climbed extensively in Britain, Europe and North America.

The driving force behind his photography is a passion for the mountains and the ever-changing quality of mountain light, to which he responds in the moment to produce striking and soulful images.

Place is unimportant in Ken’s work; it is rather the atmosphere and the intensity of the mountain experience itself that is subject. To feel the wilderness to its full extent, Ken camps high away from the artificiality of everyday life, immersing himself in silence, space and light, especially in those magic hours at the beginning and end of the day.

Ken is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and published his first book “Photographing Changing Light” in 2004. He exhibits primarily using colour transparencies, still his preferred medium in an advancing digital age.
