Daphne Foulkes ARPS

Daphne Foulkes was born in Liverpool in 1957 and is now living in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. In 2003 - having been a serious amateur photographer for many years - she decided to switch to the profession full-time. For the following three years, she studied for BA (Hons) Photography at the University of Central Lancashire, graduating with first class honours.

During the first year of her degree studies, she was introduced to alternative methods of printing. This served as a catalyst to what was to become a passion for her. Since her initial introduction, she has mastered the techniques of cyanotypes, albumen, salt and lith printing.

Daphne says this about her work:

“I am particularly interested in the aesthetic and narrative effects of photography. Often, I use a particular process as a metaphor to communicate with the viewer.”
