Lip Seng, Tan, FRPS

TAN Lip Seng (1942-)
Prominent, award-winning photographer, photo-advisor, speaker & adjudicator in
over 100 photo events over the world, Tan is the 1985 recipient of the Cultural
Medallion for photography. That same year, he was the first Asian to receive the
Diamond Galaxy rating from the Photographic Society of America (PSA), followed
by a 2nd Diamond in 1996 then the Fenton Medal in 1998. He was named
‘Photographer of the Year’ in 2005 by Ngee Ann Cultural Centre, Singapore.
Regarded as one of the top 10 colour slides photographers in the world, Tan has
enjoyed more than 6000 acceptances, over 1000 awards in more than 2000 salons,
including 34 PSA Gold Medals, 8 FIAP Gold Medals and 241 other Gold Medals. Tan
was also the first Singaporean to be conferred Fellowship by the Royal
Photographic Society of Great Britain (FRPS) for his colour slides in 1970. Tan
is Hon. President of the Nusantara Photo Club of Indonesia & honorary advisor to
numerous societies & art committees including The Overseas Chinese Photography
Society, Beijing, and the National Arts Council art panels.
