2009 is looking like it is going to be a great year.

I'm starting off with two weeks photographing on Canna, part of the Small Isles. While I'm away, the AP Materclass is getting published. Then the RPS 2009 Members Exhibition Preview takes place at Smethwick. Finally, I'm booked on a Seascape Workshop in North Wales.
And that's just January!!!!!

During the rest of 2009 I'm actively seeking photographic challenges; if you have something you think I might be interested in please do get in touch.

Recent events

Dec 2008 - I'm chuffed to announce that one of my prints has been accepted into the 2009 Members Exhibition. The preview night is at Smethwick in January - I wonder where this will lead!

Nov 2008 - Team photographer to the Kings of Wessex Equestrian Team who made it to the National Finals of Jumping With Style. Exceedingly challenging - indoors it was typically 1/80s, f4, ISO 3200 and 160mm, not an inspiring combination but I was very pleased with the results.

Nov 2008 - Welshot Snowdonia Landscape Workshop with Steve Lewis. Extremely well organised and Steve is an inspiring and enthusiastic teacher. Miserable weather though!

Oct 2008 - Amateur Photographer Masterclass at the Weston Beach Race. We were given full media access, high visibility bibs and all. Plus a professional photographer to coach us and use of a new Samsung high-end DSLR. The main race had 1000 motorbikes on the start line; if you can picture Mad Max meets Gladiator you are really close! The three of us that took part reckon we've all taken the best action shots we've ever taken. Article is due to be published in Jan 2009.

Oct 2008 - I gave an evening presentation to Mid-Somerset Camera Club titled 'Duncan's Digital'. This gave an overview of Lightroom 2 in the first half which was followed by a discussion on how to take a critically sharp shot including why lens protectors are evil, are 'L' series lenses worth the money, is diffraction going to affect my print, mirror lock up and other issues.

August 2008 - Several visits to my secret Devon beach gathering abstract photos for a potential A-panel. I've now got over 200 good enough for printing and some are really stunning. Creating a powerful panel is a still going to be a challenge!

June 2008 - Official Photographer at the Priddy Folk Festival. A small but growing festival located high in the Mendip Hills. My images are used on the festival website and in festival publicity. It's a long hard three days, but by god it's fun!
