Denise Swanson ABIPP LRPS

I provide freelance design, creative and photographic services in the Northwest of England and also  supply stock images to several libraries as well as producing and selling fine art prints and undertake a variety of commissions and assignments.

I have recently achieved an Associateship with the BIPP in the Scientific category - although the images were all nature subjects, the research I had done on each one made it more scientific than pictoral and the panel has been nominated for  the Peter Grugeon Award for 2007.

When I achieved my Licentiateship with the BIPP, it was a turning point. My qualifying panel was nominated for Best Licentiate 2005 and I subsequently won UK Pictorial/Illustrative Photographer of the Year in the BPPA Awards together with an Award of Excellence in Art of Science.

I rediscovered photography a few years ago after a lifestyle and career change due to a medical condition left me with more time and a desire to be creative. I realised that clients would require images and other photographic services so I invested in a digital SLR camera and have never looked back.

I loved the immediacy of digital and my love of nature gives me an unlimited number of opportunities in my personal work to explore a more abstract view of things. I like to make as opposed to take an image and enjoy working in my digital darkroom as much as I do going out with my camera looking for subjects to shoot.
