Having struggled as a small child with my Kodak Instamatic’s predisposition to take photographs of the heads of the penguins I was trying to photograph instead of the whole of the penguin, since the joy of my first Single Lens Reflex camera photography has been a major source of creativity for me.
My photographs are almost always a response to the place that I am in, and while I am appreciative of the powers of Photoshop I prefer to be as natural as possible in my photography. Photographs are taken against the challenges of nature with no gimmicks apart from a Polaroid lens and no extra help apart from that from friends.
As a landscape architect I am happiest photographing flowers, landscapes, sculptures and buildings. The photographs in my portfolio have been chosen to reflect these interests:
There are many more subjects that I like to photograph, but these are those from which I derive the greatest fulfilment.
Key influences have been Lee Miller, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Martin Jones. And life.
