David Yard LRPS

My interest in photography started in the 1960's. My first camera was the now iconic Olympus Pen which I still use. I soon progressed to a Nikon FM. which still serves me well. Throughout the 70's I had access to an excellent darkroom and most of my photography was in monochrome. Career, family and other interests dominated for many years. In 2002 I took early retirement and decided it was time to have my gap years and I have been doing a major trip every year. I travel independently as much as I can either on a motorbike or backpacking.

Travel rekindled my enthusiasm for photography to document the people and places I visited. My photographic style has changed, I no longer want empty landscapes. I now seek the intimacy of everyday life.

I felt that I needed a new photographic challenge so I studied for a GCE 'A' level in Photography which I passed in Aug 2009. and so gained my LRPS. Over this period I progressed to a Nikon DSLR, bought a Bronica for portrait work and set up a darkroom. And after 40 years loyalty to Nikon have recently purchased a Canon G11!!
