Prize-winning photographer Robbie Merritt has been creating bold, graphic images of celebrities, athletes and titans of industry for advertising, magazines and corporations and for more than 30 years. Merritt\'s photographs of famous and infamous faces of the noteworthy and notorious have graced the covers of dozens of magazines and featured in many Newspapers.
His first magazine photographs appeared in the 1979 Miss Universe Publication when Merritt was an 18-year-old diploma student and working as a press photographer for TVW Chanel 7 – Perth working as still cameraman for productions such as Neighbours, A counrty Practice and Home and Away all Grundy Productions in association with TVW 7.
His photographs were printed weekly in the Australia’s Soap Magazine ‘TV Week’... Just two years later, Merritt was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography for his photographs of Aboriginal Studies. His photograph of King Wally (Aboriginal Elder) won first place in both World Art People Study and the Pictures of the Year competition by Agfa and he was twice named in 1980 as one of Australia’s Photo magazine\'s \"New Faces in Photography.\"
Merritt\'s work has appeared in the Sunday Times, Western Australian, ESPN the Magazine, The Sunday Magazine, Oyster and Black & White most recently Merritt featured in a Belgium Art Publication with over a million circulation “Nylonzine”. Some of his work has featured over the years in publications such as ‘Take Five’, Women’s Weekly, FHM Mens Magazine, Ralf and Zoo Weekly.
Merritt’s involvement in Television and Print Media has enabled him to photograph Celebrities such as Actors Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Chantel Contouri and John Waters, former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke, singers Angry Anderson, Donny Osmond, Jon Stevens, Vanessa Amorosi and other many other Celebrities.
Merritt is busy in his new Bassendean 50\'s Style Retro themed Photo Studio shooting on average 20 new folios per week all from word of mouth referals. Using only the best Makeup his results speak for themselves.
