Robin Jenkin ASIS FRPS

Rob was born in Newlyn, Cornwall on the far southwest peninsula of England, just seven miles from Lands End. Rob has made imaging his career from the outset, gaining a BSc(Hons) Photographic and Electronic Imaging Sciences from University of Westminster (1995), an M.Res Machine Vision from University College London (1996) and a Ph.D in the field of image quality measurement, again from University of Westminster (2001).

Rob has worked as a university lecturer and research scientist in the field of imaging and has published in the area of image quality. He has recently co-authored the 10^th edition Manual of Photography (Focal Press, 2010) which has been published since 1893. He now works for Aptina Imaging, (San Jose, USA) in a team helping to develop algorithms and technology for the next generation of digital imaging sensors. He is also a Visiting Fellow of Cranfield University, UK in the field of electro-optics.

Rob was awarded the Fenton Medal and Honorary Life Membership (2007) of The Royal Photographic Society of the United Kingdom for his continuing work as Executive Editor of the society’s “The Imaging Science Journal”, perhaps the oldest peer reviewed journal dedicated to imaging science in the world with origins dating back to 1853. He is also an Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist (ASIS) and Fellow (FRPS) of the society.

Rob simply derives, however, most pleasure from the practise of photography.
