I originally studied photography back in the 80's and graduated from Bournemouth & Poole College of Art, working in the City for some time before I returned back to my homeland, Scotland and began a career in teaching.

I've worked in Primary, Further and latterly as a Principal Lecturer at a large University in the South of England where i decided to leave full-time teaching and lecturing and return back to my native love and passion 'Photography'

I completed an MA at the University of Cumbria in 2010, researching 'home' and what we consider to be 'home' ...for most of us a fairly temporal thing. This led me on to develop further visual research and study looking at closed institutions, asylums and homes for the mentally ill. An ongoing project currently and a vastly growing collection of images which is becoming a real lifelong project for me. Some of the work can be viewed here.

I was awarded a Fellowship of the BIPP in September 2010 and was also awarded the Peter Grugeon Award for 'Fellowship' panel of 2010.

In December 2010 I was awarded a 'Fellowship' of the MPA

My work now is people based, some might say it's portraiture | I see it more as a wedding bridal fashion influenced by European and Italian styling. I live and work between my homes in Scotland and Barga, Northern Italy.
