I have always enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife and can always be found out and about. My photography, however, came along much later and I have been enjoying exploring what this has to offer since 2008. The most exciting aspect is that I am now able to combine both interests and this has opened a whole other world to discover.

Photography has provided an exciting world of colours, patterns and behaviours perhaps previously missed as I walked by. I have found that in developing my skills in composing and capturing ‘a shot’ I have become much more aware of what’s around me and taking much more notice of what is beyond the first glance.

Part of this rediscovery came when I stepped out of my work in the NHS and entered the world of South West Forest where I discovered much more what the natural world has to offer. I started to learn about Biophilia and how we as individuals need to maintain a relationship with our green spaces for our own health and well-being. This has become of real importance to me both on a personal level and having now returned to my NHS role and photography ensures I maintain this special relationship.

Living in North Devon is such a special place with so much diversity there is never a shortage of photographic opportunities. I find that there is always something new and exciting to discover and photography has opened up so many opportunities to meet new people, develop friendships and learn a whole new set of skills in photography, nature, wildlife and creativity.

I am completely self taught and have learnt through many a trial, error and frustration. My journey thus far has been varied and I have been fortunate  enough to see some of my work published in various photography magazines and more recently I have been able to submit some of my images to the local Art Co-operative at Gallery 39 in Barnstaple. I am also a member of the Devon Artists Network and North Devon Arts which help to promote local artists in and around Devon. This has culminated in being able to achieve my Licentiateship with the Royal Photographic Society on June 10th 2011.

I hope you will be able to visit my website and enjoy browsing and sharing in the journey. Thank you.
