Ian Foster ARPS

Ian is a mobile portrait photographer and hand-made platinum and palladium printer based in North Bristol.

Having won half a dozen national awards for his portrait work in two years and then failing his first attempt at an Associate submission in 2009 on print quality, Ian was forced to take his printing skills to the next level.

He was introduced to platinum and palladium prints in 2009, and was fortunate enough to take guidance from Dr Mike Ware (www.mikeware.co.uk). Mike suggested Ian attend one of David Chow's workshops (http://www.platinumprinting.co.uk) which he duly did along with his mentor Saraya Cortaville (http://www.sarayacortaville.co.uk/). Without the encouragement of these three people, what follows would never have happened and Ian gratefully acknowledges them as the giants upon whose shoulders he would like to stand.

One of his prints earned him the 2010 Best Newcomer Award at the prestigious Royal West of England Academy's 158th Autumn Exhibition, and for a 2011 commission he won the title of the Western Professional Photography Association's Portrait Photographer of the Year, 2012.

In September of 2012, he produced a panel of 15 portraits in platinum and palladium, for which he was awarded Associate Membership of the Royal Photographic Society in the Professional and Applied category.

Ian can be contacted by email or using the contact form on his website.
