John Willetts ARPS
I studied Fine Art at Stourbridge College of Art and photography at Birmingham College of Art (under Michael Langford).
I have spent most of my working life working in the technical and creative development of multimedia in the UK, Sweden, Japan and the US.
My chief 'claim to fame' is that I am the guy who put digital and interactive sound onto computers - for which I won the NatWest/BP Innovator of the Year Award. As a side-product I also produced the first commercial CD Roms in the US.
In 2012, I made a 360° presentation for the Cultural Olympiad.
Over recent years, I have become fascinated by the technical and creative opportunities offered by immersive panoramas,
The Portfolio contains images of the sequence of English flora through the year in intimate and wider landscape settings. From the almost monochromatic in weak winter light to the strong, hard colour of high summer.
The photographs are Expressionist statements derived from my impressions of the virtual worlds I chose to capture.
