Michael Wayne Plant

New Zealand born Michael Wayne Plant has lived in Australia, United Kingdom, Greece, America, Italy, and France. He has been a photographer since 1988 working in variety of genres, these have all influenced his style and development as an artist. He completed an MA in Photography and Urban Cultures at Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2008. Where he developed an interest in work that explores identities and the social landscape using a documentary style of photography from an art perspective.

He is starting a Practice-led PhD at UCA Farnham in October 2012 with Professor Anna Fox and Professor Judith Williamson. The area of research for the PhD will explore his proposed title:

“Visualising the neo-liberal response to economic crisis: A use of photographic practice to explore social realities.” The research and resulting work around his PhD will become the focus of this website.
