Colin Smith
The aim of my nature photography is to record the beauty of the landscape both in the U.K. and in other countries around the world and to photograph the wonderful wildlife still to be found. I am acutely concerned with the need for conservation and hope that my work will go some way in opening people's eyes to the wildlife and countryside which still remains, and to make them see the responsibility we all share for the future of the planet.
In Britain we enjoy a wide variety of bird species, some resident and others annual migrants. It is always a challenge to photograph them especially engaged in some activity such as feeding, courting or simply flying. The interest in wildlife and especially birds is a growing trend in Britain and photographers supply images for books, magazines and for lecture purposes to Various Natural History groups.
It is hoped the time photographers spend in the field to obtain images has a positive effect on the future of conservation in our country.
