RPS lecture by: - Jason Bell Hon FRPS

Jason describes himself as a portrait photographer; however he accepts that others call him a fashion photographer, a celebrity photographer and a few other titles he didn't elaborate upon. By the end of this delightful evening at Newcastle college the audience only described him as a great photographer and truly worthy of his Hon. FRPS (the highest distinction awarded by the Society).

Born in Camden, London in 1969 educated at Oxford University (Politics, Philosophy and Economics), he now lives in New York and London and has photographed many of the world’s most famous stars, Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet . He has also photographed posters for films “Billy Elliot”, “Bridget Jones 2” etc and taken publicity images for numerous blockbuster Hollywood movies.   He also has produced fashion photography for magazines like Vanity Fair and British & USA Vogue. 

Jason entertained the audience not only with some fantastic photographs but he delivered it in a relaxed modest manner that endeared him with the largely student audience, he also took and answered their questions and gave them a great amount of advice on photography and people skills. This was a different type of photographic lecture to the more recent genres but was warmly received and everyone in attendance was privileged to have seen and heard it.
