STATEMENT OF INTENT

I was privileged to visit Svalbard last year in search of Polar Bears. As well as photographing the bears I took the opportunity to take images of the mountains, glaciers and icebergs. The sky was overcast for most of the time and the mountains and glaciers were shrouded in mist. Nevertheless the fjords, silent except for the occasional crash of falling ice, had an eerie atmosphere and beauty. My first theme attempts to convey these qualities.

In my second theme I explore the amazing colours, textures and patterns in the ice that a close up view of the icebergs revealed.
