In April of 2012 I attended an appraisal Day at Backworth, Tyne & Wear to have my panel appraised prior to my nature assessment in September at the RPS HQ in Bath.
The day did not go well and my panel was deemed to be well below the standard needed for success, due mainly to technical issues. Whilst disappointed at the verdict when I returned home and
looked carefully at my images I had to agree that I had not done justice to my images in post processing and several needed to be dropped completely.
I restructured the panel and corrected the technical faults and was delighted when my panel was accepted with a unanimous vote by the five judges.
To add to my success my panel was also retained for use by the RPS to show as an example of a good nature panel.
Without the help and guidance of the appraisal team I would still be at LRPS stage and trying to figure out what to use for a re assessment next year.
The moral of the story is. Have your work appraised before you take your assessment. It could save you time and money and be the difference between success and failure.
Thanks to Jane Black and all those who made the appraisals. I owe you one!
