Hilary Shaw ARPS
Committee
After a lifetime in the architectural world with pen and pencil in hand, I came to photography as a means of expression rather than recording, relatively recently.
I joined the Sunderland Photographic Association in 1995 and very quickly caught the bug.
Through club competitions I learned a great deal, and successes encouraged me to look at the wider photographic world. I gained my DPAGB after a few years and started to send images to International competitions. Encouraged by acceptances I put together a panel of work to submit to the RPS, this was successful and I was awarded the ARPS in 1996.
I also belong to the UPP, which brings yet another perspective, and enlarges my circle of experience and friendships.
My main interest outside of photography, but definitely linked to it, is travel. My husband and I have been lucky to have had opportunities to travel to countries in the developing world for work, as well as enjoying holidays, from Outer Mongolia to darkest Africa.
My hopes for the future are that we can continue to discover the world at home and abroad and enjoy our photography.

Ron Henry ARPS
Committee
Ron joined his first camera club in 1965 but it was at one of Michael Tickner's early Audio Scope presentations that his real interest began. His discovery of Audio Visual seemed more like a course in carpentry than photography as all of the equipment had to be invented then manufactured at home.
His hobby soon turned into a business as he discovered that audio visual solved many training problems within industry. This developed into Sound Image Productions, Ron's company producing conferences and seminars worldwide.
Early retirement and his return to Gosforth Camera Club took Ron back to the club scene, this time at the beginning of digital. Although maintaining an interest in prints, he gained his Associateship in audio visual in 2006 and regularly presents his digital AVs on the local club circuit. He has given talks on many aspects of producing AVs at the RPS AV Group meetings.
