Landscape and nature photography are my passion. The image of a small bird alighting on a bush to feed, the rolling fields fading into the horizon inspire me to reach for my camera.
My entire childhood, leading into adulthood and my profession necessitated me being ‘on the land’. As a Dairy Farmer my life has been led and directed by the landscape and the elements of the weather. It was a privilege for me to witness the morning sunrises slipping over the fields wakening the day and the creatures, the winds and rains, the sunlight and shadows. Equally the sunsets softening the day, drifting away in warm shades and tones. I was lucky to continually witness all the seasons and the dramatic effects these have on the landscape.
I shall forever be grateful to my history for the appreciation it has given me, the views it has shown me and the progression it allowed me to move into photography.
The images that follow are all taken with my Nikon D700 camera. To capture these images I have travelled many miles in the northern part of our beautiful country. The North West of Scotland (Glencoe) to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales has afforded me some magnificent scenes to attempt to capture, as too, has my home in the idyllic North Yorkshire village of Scruton.
