Des comes from Drogheda in Ireland. He is a documentary photographer and has won many awards and distinctions for his individual images and panels of his work. His subjects range through horse fairs and people in their environment to moody landscapes of his native Ireland. Apart from the wonderful images in monochrome and colour you will also enjoy the stories of how he got the pictures.

Lake District Weekend at the Glenridding Hotel, Ullswater, CA11 0PB

Lecturers:

David Herrod FRPS

David lives in Cumbria and since the publication of his book "Water of Cumbria", monochrome studies of the Lakes, he has gone on to produce a huge variety of images including a set of portraits of famous Cumbrians which formed an exhibition. It is time to catch up again with his latest work and to enjoy some of the favourite past images.

Vic Attfield FRPS MPAGB

Vic is about to retire from many years of lecturing and he tells me that this visit to Northern region is his swan song. Vic has been involved in photography since 1951 and gained his Fellowship in 1971. He was a member of the Pictorial Distinctions panel for 19 years and was elected a member of the London Salon in 1971. He is also a member of Arena. He continues to be a prolific worker and exhibitor. His enthusiasm for photography has no bounds. The members who enjoyed his visit in 2001 will look forward to more brilliant photography accompanied by an expertly delivered commentary and no doubt to hearing about the further adventures of that elusive Artic hare. Since his last visit Vic has published "Looking"a book of 160 of his images. This will be on sale during the weekend.

 Libby Smith MPAGB, EFIAP

Libby comes from Carluke in Scotland and has taken photographs since she acquired a proper camera at the age of 12. In 1993 with her husband Neil they joined Carluke C.C. and Libby took photography seriously putting as much into its organisation as she was to take out in exhibiting success. She went on to be President of Carluke C.C. several times, Chairman of the Scottish International Salon, President of the Scottish Federation during their centenary year and now serves the PAGB where she represents Scotland. Libby began exhibiting in 1996 and success brought her a AFIAP and DPAGB in 2001, EFIAP three years later and MPAGB in 2005. She began as a slide and darkroom worker until she discovered Photoshop. She was soon expert and producing not only her favourite landscapes but a mix of subjects and styles which allowed her imagination to blossom and exploit her art background. Libby greatly enjoys creating images but also looking at images, judging, lecturing, running workshops, organising photography and meeting fellow photographers. This is now her way of life.
