Our Distinctions Advisory Day was held on Sunday 27th January 2008, at Amersham. 14 people came for LRPS advice, and 7 for ARPS advice. This was slightly below our capacity because of some late cancellations. 34 people came as observers, and the venue was pleasantly full.
Jack Bates advised on LRPS, and was kept extremely busy. Alan Millward advised on ARPS Travel, with Andrew Wilson on ARPS Visual Art. Visual Art continues as the most popular single ARPS panel.
Digital presentation is increasing, with 9 panels shown this time alongside only 1 for slides. All digital authors received a compliance report for the format of their submission. The main problems identified were:
Sizing images (particularly portrait shape). The height must not exceed 768 pixels.
Setting colour space. sRGB is required.
Thames Valley Region expects to continue a policy of holding two advisory days per year. Even with this increased capacity, demand exceeds availability, and there are waiting lists of people seeking advice.
