Gaining the Licentiateship is a wonderful achievement and one of which you should feel very proud.  You now have recognition of your skills as a photographer and are probably keen to move on towards Associateship.  However, there is a wide gap between the level required for “L” and that required for “A”, the width of which is not always appreciated and often results in disappointment and failure.  Between L and A, there are other things you can do, such as develop a portfolio of work, which is useful for a website, job applications, submission of evidence for post-graduate study as well as forming the starting point for working towards Associateship.

The London region is pleased to announce the launch of a series of workshops in 2013, hosted by Professional and Applied panel member, and editor of Advanced Photographer, Will Cheung FRPS.  These workshops are designed to help you find your style and to develop a portfolio of images, based on projects tailor-made for you, as well as some group work designed to improve general skills.

At the end of the course, you will have a portfolio of images, which you can use to progress your own goals.  The workshops will be run four times throughout the year.  In between the workshops, there will be some online feedback.  They will take the same format and participants can join the programme at any time.  Participants can attend as many or as few workshops as they wish.

Format

11.00 – 13.00 Group review of work.  Each participant will bring 10 images for general review and feedback.  If this is your first workshop, it would be useful to bring your L panel.  If it is not your first workshop, please bring images from your current project.

13.00 – 13.30  Essential skills – a  brief overview, with examples, of a different topic.  Examples include better composition, cropping, Photoshop techniques.

13.30 – 14.00 Lunch break

14.00 – 16.15 Individual review and setting of personal project.  Each participant will have a 15 minute one-to-one with Will, during which time he will discuss your strengths and weaknesses and set a project for you, which will help overcome these weaknesses.  Whilst these sessions are taking place, the other participants will be out shooting nearby, following a mini-assignment set by Will.

16.15 – 16.30 Concluding remarks, de-brief etc.
