  • Report on RPS Projected Images Exhibition 2009 Opening and Awards Ceremony at Chester Zoo.

Often described as one of the friendliest regions, the organisers make great use of the social aspects of being part of the Society. Its Photographers' Tea Parties in summer are renowned events where new and experienced members come together, share experiences and learn from each other. So, besides photographic orientated meetings we also have social side to our gatherings which is popular.

The region has about 680 members (including in the Isle of Man) and meets every month.  We arrange meetings on monthly basis, except in August when we take a break and do not have a meeting. The highlight of the annual calendar is our March meeting. This event is usually a sell out and about 200 people attend it. It is usually a full day meeting with excellent speaker and a feast of lunch. Otherwise, most meetings are held at Hough End Centre, which is actually the South Manchester Police Club with excellent A/V and catering facilities. Our December meeting every year is a Christmas lunch, a quiz with couple of renowned speakers. Photography with social aspect to it makes an excellent cocktail for the festive season.

In the North West we are committed to providing our members the best of photography by keeping them well informed through our newsletters and monthly meetings. We are also arranging events whereby the members develop and improve their photographic skills to achieve higher grades of the RPS distinctions. Most of all, we ensure that photography is great fun.
