Breathing London

The Breathing London project was a London-wide Photo project to capture the diversity of London's public green and open spaces - the lungs of the City - over the course of a year.

The photography section of the project closed on 17th April 2017 and the data uploading phase on 30th April.  The website with all the images can be seen here:  breathinglondon.co.uk

End of Project Exhibitions are planned for July and August in Central London, at the Croatian Embassy, and in SW London, at the Putney Library - dates and details to follow.   We also hope to have an Exhibition in North London - yet to be confirmed.  Watch these pages for more details and to join in.

Just as background for those who are new to us, the project was launched at the 2016 AGM - see here: http://www.rps.org/regions-and-chapters/regions/london/blogs/2016/january/london-updat

The parameters for the project were that images could be taken in any publicly accessible space:  parks, heaths, woodlands, nature reseerves, rivers, canals and more.   They could capture landscape, cityscapes, nature, people enjoying and working in the open spaces - in fact anything that captured the attention of the photographer - unusual and entertaining was particularly welcomed.   As with all our projects, anyone was welcome to join.

We held Exhibitions during the course of the project at the Merton Heritage Centre, The Magic Gallery (The Strand) and the Greenwich Gallery in SE London.  We had articles published in London Landscapes magazine and took part in an Event at the Royal Festival Hall, where we had a rolling digital display of our images.  We were intereviewed on Radio London.

We held walks, during the height of the project, weekly - come rain, come shine and we ran a series of workshops (one for each season) with renown wildlife photographer Robert Canis
