Graham’s joined Bleeding London to revisit and reinterpret some old haunts.
"I'm Graham Scales. I'm a retoucher and photographer at a Graphic Repro company in Southwark, commuting from the 'burbs on a daily basis. Away from my professional life and for pleasure I love documenting the streets and other places I visit. Looking for interest in the everyday or finding the story in the street and the people who live in them.
For this sort of stuff I firmly believe it's what you see and composition over the right gear... whether it's a smart phone or SLR or compact camera. The weapon of choice often being the trusty iPhone as that is always in my pocket. The restrictiveness of having an SLR round the neck isn't really an option on the daily commute, the camera phone lends to the spontaneity of the shots. The snapshot of everyday life.
I'm choosing SE1 as it's where I work and when you venture away from the touristy areas of bankside and borough market there are some interesting place tucked away. Sometimes gritty, sometimes eccentric and sometimes just good old London. Also, EC as I travel daily to south of the river from Liverpool Street, the bustling city offers marked contrasts in life.
Bleeding London will give me a good opportunity to revisit and reinterpret places previously shot."
