We’re celebrating the work of Mike Roberts in Bleeding London today. Read on for Mike’s incredible story.
When we started the Bleeding London project, we received an email from Mike, who told us that he’d had a stroke and just been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, but was going to participate in BL as it would be therapeutic in helping with his recovery. Since then, Mike has made the most amazing contribution to Bleeding London: he’s uploaded 1200 images and tramped the streets in 62 different postcode areas. You can see some of Mike’s images in his Bleeding London album.
Mike has also set himself the challenge of raising £1,000 for The Stroke Association by the end of the year. If you’d like to donate, you can do so through Mike’s ‘Just Giving’ page.
In recognition of Mike’s contribution, we’re looking for all the streets that have “St Michael” in the name, and in true BL style, we also want objects that relate to St Michael – this could be a well-known High Street shop or an abandoned carrier bag, for example.
There are bonus points for all St Michael images and ten points for any taken in the suburbs. If you’ve already submitted a St Michael image, you can claim points retrospectively. (BPCC 2610).

We’re still looking for post-people for some of the postcode areas. If you can help co-ordinate the streets that have been covered and arrange some coverage of your area, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
