RPS London member, Lizzie Brown, invites photographers to contribute to a "View from the Loo":
I am putting together a participatory installation inside the loo at the Espacio Gallery for the Anti Gallery Gallery Show. Called “View from the Loo”, it consists of views from different loo seats from anywhere in the world. I am inviting you to capture the view from a loo seat. It could be a photograph taken on your phone, or any of your cameras. Then send me an electronic image of what you produce with your name, the place and date so we can keep a record. Please send to: email@example.com
If you can please bring your image* to the Espacio Gallery during opening hours and add it yourself to the loo walls. If you can’t get to the gallery, you can post it* addressed to: “View from the Seat”, Espacio Gallery,159 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG or let me know when you email the image and I will print it for you and put it up. Image sizes should be no smaller than a postcard and no bigger than A3. There will be bluetack in the loo for attaching them to the surfaces.
We started the installation by putting up a few images for the opening on 8th January and are building it up until we have covered all the surfaces . So far we have images from New Zealand, the Chinese border, Canada, Atlanta USA, Devon, Spain, Italy and places in England we need more from other parts of the UK and the rest of the world. We have until 28th to complete the task.
The Anti Gallery Gallery Show is at the Espacio Gallery between 8-29th January 2015. Gallery opening hours are: Tues-Wed 3-8pm, Thurs-Sat 1-8pm, Sunday 11-6pm, Closed on Monday. More information on www.degrees-of-freedom.weebly.com.
Please note that if you want your work returned you will need to collect it from the gallery on Friday 30th January between 12-6pm. Work that is not collected will be kept for use in future installation of “View from a Seat” at a suitable opportunity and or may be produced as an ebook.
And if you send a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org as well, we'll start an album on the website.
