RPS London would like to support Café Art again this year and we’re looking for a few volunteers to help out.
Each year, Café Art runs a five day photography contest for people affected by homelessness. The participants are given a disposable camera and then have five days to photograph London. The best twelve images are used to produce a calendar, which is sold to raise funds for the participants and their art groups.
The main event will be on the 3rd July, where Café Art will be handing out cameras to the participants. We need a few volunteers to assist with the handout and to give some useful tips about taking pictures.
This year, Café Art would also like to run a preparatory session ahead of the handout (date to be confirmed) where RPS members would take some of the participants on a photo-walk and provide some basic training (composition, subject matter etc.).
If you can spare a few hours to help – either at the handout or for the preparatory session, please contact Paul at Café Art.
In the last few years the project has raised more than £45,000 for the art groups, artists and photographers involved. The main goal is to empower people through art and photography.
