About Us

The SW region covers Devon and Cornwall and we try to cover all parts of the area on photographic trips. With a large variety of coast, moorland and tourist areas we have much to keep us busy photographically.

We arrange field trips throughout the summer months, interspersed with an annual after Christmas get together outside somewhere in early January which usually ends up with a convivial lunch in a pub. Throughout the autumn/winter period speakers are arranged along with Distinctions Advisory days, lectures and we are now building a relationship with the University of Plymouth where we use their facilities to host a keynote speaker. In addition members of the committee are prepared to visit camera clubs to talk about the Distinctions which are available through the Society.

Please see the events page to find dates and preferably advise Martin if you intend to join as it is useful to have an idea of numbers, but please do contact a committee member if you need any further help or advice.

The region also runs 3 travelling print folios, one of which is purely mono, and if anyone is interested in joining, please contact

Margaret Hocking, bosrowynek@btinternet.com for further information.

In addition to the travelling print folios we have a group in West Cornwall who meet on a regular basis, but attending this group is not limited to West Cornwall members, all will be made welcome if you can make the trip, dates of their meeting sare shown on the events page.

Some further details below.

"For the past two years a number of the RPS members in the West of Cornwall, under the leadership of Dave Harrison ARPS, have been meeting on a regular basis to discuss and further their understanding of photography and photographers, as well as encouraging personal photography and projects. This has become a self motivating group rather than a set programme.  We would like to expand this to other members, new and old. Most events in the SW region are held in Devon as that is where the concentration of members occurs, however, we would like to offer an opportunity for members in the far SW of the region to meet occasionally and share their interests without incurring a lengthy round trip.  Other large RPS regions also have sub groups.

As Dave has recently stepped down from this role, I have temporarily stepped into his shoes.

With this in mind I am inviting you to join us and contribute to the informal meetings now being held bi-monthly at Chacewater Village Hall on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.  There is small charge of £2.50 per meeting towards the hire of the hall and refreshments.  The Hall is easily accessible from the A30 and there is free parking close by.
Details and dates for next meetings can be obtained from the events pages or contact Viv Howse ARPS by email on mghvkh@btinternet.com

If you are interested and would like to come and be added to our e-mail list then please let me know, or if you would like further information then please contact me.

PLEASE SEE THE ARCHIVE DOCUMENTS PAGE UNDER "ABOUT US" FOR REPORTS ON PREVIOUS YEARS MEETINGS AND EVENTS, FOR CURRENT YEAR THERE IS A BLOG PAGE FOR EACH EVENT AND COMMENTS ON THE EVENTS ARE WELCOMED.
