About Us

Welcome to the Yorkshire Region

The Region covers a wide and diverse area, stretching from the high Pennine Moors in the west through to the varied and attractive coastal landscapes in the east and from the West and South Yorkshire urban conurbations in the south to the rolling landscapes of the North Yorkshire plains and North York Moors in the north.

Of course the rugged east coastline also offers plenty of picture opportunities and for bird lovers we are fortunate in having the RSPB reserve at Bempton for seabird enthusiasts.

As well as including the cities of Sheffield, Bradford, Leeds and York the region includes areas of the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks.

At the moment the region has circa 450 members and it is fair to say that between them they cover just about every aspect of the photographic spectrum.

We have an enthusiastic Regional Organiser in Mary Crowther ARPS who keeps things on the move with the help of an active and hard-working committee.

Mary can be contacted on e-mail at: photobox50@gmail.com and by phone on:

The International Members’ Print Exhibition is exclusively for members of The Society and takes place every two years.  For the 2015 exhibition nearly 3,300 images were submitted from RPS members worldwide, and the selectors had the difficult task of selecting just 100 for the exhibition.

Encouraging entries across all genres and styles of photography, including art and science based work, the Exhibition aims to represent RPS members' interests within photography, which is broad in both style and subject.

The Exhibition is on show at The Civic from November 21 this year until January 16, 2016.
