A glittering occasion: The RPS Awards

24 September 2015

The RPS Journal

The Journal team were delighted to attend the 2015 RPS Awards, held on the 16th September in central London. It was a genuine honour to meet some of the most celebrated photographers in the industry, all of whom could not have been more delightful in person! Recipients included the renowned collaborators Anderson & Low, world famous musician and photographer Bryan Adams and Cinematographer Dick Pope, to name a few.

After mingling with attendees in the magnificent halls of The Royal Society, we were ushered to our seats. The awards were presented by Rt Hon Lord Robertson LRPS, whose easy, engaging manner held the attention of the audience throughout the night.

We were also treated to displays of each recipient’s work as they were announced, which included the three-dimensional images produced by Masuji Suto, Saxby Award winner. Seeing the audience don 3D glasses in unison was quite something!

As well as getting the opportunity to catch up with RPS members and hear their latest news, our main task for the night was to photograph each recipient for the October issue - the awards special. Everyone we shot was very gracious (even after being pulled away from flowing bottles of Macallan’s whisky!)

The creativity and talent on display was really something to behold, and we’ve worked hard to capture the spirit of the evening in the forthcoming October Journal – not to be missed. See you all again next year!
