21st RPS International AV Festival
The Committee of the Royal Photographic Society International Audio Visual Festival wishes to invite you to participate in this forthcoming event. It will be held at the customary venue of the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September 2014.
The International Jury for the Festival comprises Howard Bagshaw (UK) Chairman of the Jury, Keith Brown (UK), Gérard Desroches (Luxembourg), and John Hodgson (Australia).
As with the last event, if the number of entries exceed the Festival duration, then a pre-selection will be made to determine the accepted sequences. This will be attended by the Chair of the Jury, and it will be his decision on whether a sequence is accepted or rejected.
Again, after the successful introduction of ‘widescreen’ projection at the previous Festival, we will be using the same equipment to project ‘HD’ sequences in widescreen format up to 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. “Standard” sequences in 4:3 aspect ratio will still be projected with no distortion or loss of quality, so authors are free to submit whatever format they choose. Please note that the projection equipment is set to run in sRGB colour space, so for optimal quality your sequences should be saved in this format.
The Festival will run to the usual structure, with a full projection session on the Friday afternoon with no projection sessions in the evenings. Previous attendees will know that the Royal Agricultural University is an excellent venue for this event, which has been ‘home’ to us now for the last fourteen years. If you’ve not been before, the University is located a mile outside Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. The building itself is in the Victorian Gothic style, set in twenty-five acres of magnificent grounds. It’s easy to reach by road or rail, with a local railway station just two miles away.
There is a choice of all-inclusive residential packages, en-suite rooms with no single room supplement, non-residential packages with all the meals and projection sessions, or just daily projection sessions. Note prices have been frozen at 2012 rate. The Festival is a unique opportunity to see top-quality sequences from around the world, catch up with all of your AV friends from the UK and abroad, and have a great time in the congenial atmosphere that always prevails at Cirencester. We usually even manage to have good weather!
The Annual General Meeting of the RPS AV Group will take place on Saturday evening, after Session 3 and before the Gala Dinner, all members are cordially invited to attend.
