The September programme of the group has gone well, with eight members making the trek to Holmfirth on Saturday 7th and 17 members attending the group meeting in Strensall a week later on 14th.
The first tranche of work from the on-going group project, dubbed “NHS 65”, was shown and discussed at length – led by Stewart Wall – with some fascinating and varied images and views of the NHS in its 65th year. The group agreed that we should try and make a book out of this project and possibly also an exhibition.
Work from the Holmfirth day was also shown although not all attendees had managed to get the results processed in time. We intend to try and do this more justice at a future meeting when all the work can be shown and discussed.
A weekend event is still considered desirable sometime in the spring of 2014, although more immediately a book event (speaker: Brian Steptoe) is planned for the next meeting on 23rd November, not least because the Society is launching a contemporary book competition; the brainchild of Brian Steptoe FRPS and Rod Fry ARPS. It is hoped that members of the group would wish to support this by making a submission and a book event with a focus on book sequencing, design and creation was considered timely.
This event is to be held in conjunction with Yorkshire Region and for this reason the time and venue are still to be decided, news of which will be posted in the RPS diary and on this page.
The group is open to all; RPS members, contemporary group members and non-members are all welcome to come along.
