DI Expo 2015 – getting it together……part 3

30 July 2015

SIG: Digital Imaging

Our next coup was my meeting with Dominic Gurney of Epson at a PAGB photographic event.  Chatting over his stand we got to talk about the planned DI Expo and immediately Dominic asked if we had a main sponsor organised and if not would we consider Epson.  It was brilliant timing and wonderful synergy.

Dominic had lots of trade contacts and the Epson brand would work well for us.  For Epson working with the Royal Photographic Society, on the largest event they have ever arranged, was also a bonus.

We needed sessions in our programme for colour management, colour and mono printing and with Epson on board we knew we had the best of partners.  They commissioned Mike McNamee to take their three afternoon theatre sessions on their behalf.

A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, Mike McNamee has won a number of national and international awards and his photography is used all over the world in encyclopedias, text books, CD covers, scientific journals, calendars, magazines and newspapers.
Mike has been involved with digital imaging technology since its early days, winning the 1981 Struers International Award for his pioneering work on digital image analysis of high-strength ceramics. He has lectured all over Europe, the Middle East, America and Canada on specialised photographic techniques as well as authoring countless numbers of reports, books, scientific papers and patents.
Mike taught photography and digital imaging at Priestley College, Warrington for almost 10 years and trains professionally in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat along with DTP and colour management.
He was formerly the editor of the national magazines Digital Photographer and Digital Photographer and Creative Imaging and is the current editor of Professional Imagemaker magazine, which is delivered to more than 50 countries.
As a speaker Mike has also retained his close connections with the enthusiast sectors of photography and regularly lectures at Focus-on-Imaging, road shows and Royal Photographic Society events. He has a reputation as a lively speaker, backed with more than 40 years of experience.
Epson will be bringing lots of their equipment for you to see and test, including small & large format printers, scanners and projectors.
