The Documentary and Visual Journalism Group (DVJ) comprises a dynamic and diverse group of photographers, throughout the country, with a common interest in taking documentary, urban and street photographs. You don’t have to be a journalist or professional photographer to join the DVJ. We encourage members from all areas of the country and of all photographic abilities.
We have a lively events programme around the country, ranging from informal Sunday Shoots to structured workshops. We have a prestigious annual competition: DVJ Documentary Photographer of the Year, as well as other long term projects, such as documenting the everyday for The Archive for the Future.
The DVJ produces a quarterly e-bulletin, Candid, which includes interviews with leading documentary photographers, book recommendations and members’ images.
For 2014, we have an exciting programme of activities and projects based around the commemoration of the centenary of WWI, culminating in an exhibition and a symposium on war photography then and now.
Membership of the DVJ is £15.00 per annum. Members receive priority booking and discounts for events, as well as an annual £10 voucher towards any DVJ paying event.
