Welcome to our
The Documentary and Visual Journalism Group
Who we are.
The Documentary and Visual Journalism Group (DVJ) comprises a dynamic and diverse group of photographers, both in the UK and across the world. They all share a common interest which is documentary, urban and street photography.
The DVJ welcomes photographers of all abilities to join in this fascinating and growing genre of photography. Remember! you do not have to be a photojournalist or professional photographer to join the DVJ. We support, encourage and welcome RPS members members from all regions of the Uk and wherever you live across the globe.
We are developing a lively events programme around the country, ranging from informal Sunday Shoots to structured workshops. If you live in an area that you feel would benefit by having an event why not help in getting one started?

We have a prestigious annual competition the DVJ Documentary Photographer of the Year, this has some great prizes for the winners.
Details of this years competition can be found on our Documentary Photographer of the Year page.
In addition we have other long term projects, such as documenting the everyday for The Archive for the Future.
The DVJ produces a quarterly e-bulletin, Candid, which includes interviews with leading documentary photographers, book recommendations and members’ images.
For 2015, we have an exciting programme of activities and projects based around the commemoration of the centenary of WWI, culminating in an exhibition and a symposium on war photography then and now.
Membership of the DVJ is £15.00 per annum. Members receive priority booking and discounts for events, as well as an annual £10 voucher towards any DVJ paying event.
