One of the fastest growing groups in The Society, the DVJ comprises a dynamic and diverse group of photographers throughout the country with a common interest in taking street, urban and documentary photographs. You don’t have to be a journalist or professional photographer to join the DVJ. Whilst we are honoured to have a number of renowned photographers as members, we encourage members from all areas and of all photographic abilities.
We have a lively events programme ranging from informal Sunday Shoots to structured workshops, both in London and around the regions. We have a prestigious annual competition – Documentary Photographer of the Year - as well as on-going initiatives, such as documenting the everyday for The Archive for the Future.
The DVJ produces a monthly enews, Candid, which includes interviews with leading documentary photographers, book recommendations and members’ images.
For 2014, we have an exciting programme of activities and projects based around the commemoration of the centenary of WWI.
Membership of the DVJ is free until your next RPS subscription falls due and thereafter is £15.00 per annum. Members receive priority booking and discounts for events.
