Founded in 1976 by enthusiasts under the Chairmanship of Heather Angel FRPS, the Nature Group aims to bring together people with an interest in natural history photography, in whatever aspect, and at whatever level of ability, in order to display their work.
Group membership has grown to over 900, largely in the UK but with members from all over the world, including some of the most eminent and well-known professional photographers, respected natural history authors with several books to their name, contributors to magazines, lecturers and those who are just starting out.
You will be made most welcome by our Group, whatever the level of your photography. Many members joining with little photographic experience have subsequently obtained a Distinction, often working their way through to a Fellowship. You do not need detailed natural history knowledge; all that is required is a genuine interest in, and respect for, nature. The Group has always been extremely friendly, with members always willing to share their knowledge of both Natural History and photography with others.
The Group's programme includes:
- an annual residential weekend and a number of day field meetings,
- a biennial convention jointly with other groups of Natural History photographers,
- an annual exhibition of prints and projected images.
If you would like to join the Nature Group, please contact the membership department - firstname.lastname@example.org - as they deal with all group applications.
Please note that you need to be a member of the RPS to be able to join a group.
The subscription is £14 annually.
Alternatively, you can pay monthly (1 x £1.24 and 11 x £1.16).
