Every March for the last 27 years the Lapland Vindelälvs-Draget has been held. Competitiors come from all over Scandinavia, and further afield, to enjoy 4 days of fun & games over a 400 km course along the frozen Vindelälven River. Some have a full team in front of a light-weight sledge, others ski with just one or two dogs on a harness. This year the conditions were poor, with little snow and warmer temperatures, causing the river to thaw; thus the competition was shortened to two days over around 200 km. It was really hard work for dogs and humans alike - the stages took maybe an hour or two longer than usual, but it was a great spectacle and one to enjoy if your travels ever bring you this far north!
